Welcome 2012! We’ve been waiting for you and I couldn’t be more excited to see a New Year arrive. It’s a year filled with financial opportunity, political debate that ends with a new plan and likely a new man in the Whitehouse. The first 6 months have powerful Mars transits that keep business moving but as also good for aggression. It is important to be aware of events in the world without being anxious or wary of them. It’s important to pull away from the computer when the Uranus Pluto transit compels you to plug in for more and more. The gift is the perspective of Saturn. We are in exciting times but all times in history were exciting. The stress comes from fear of the future so roll up your sleeves and build something. But remember: It’s all about relationships. Are you willing to relate, or do you want to dominate?

Saturn is exalted which means the planet of strength and endurance is particularly happy to roll up his sleeves and lend some sweat to the equity of the future. Saturn first moved into the constellation Libra as the Super Committee ended in a political stalemate. That didn’t stop money from moving. Within 2 weeks the Market went up along with consumer spending and there was a tax deal that sent it higher. Throughout this season Saturn remains strong and in a good place for business and optimism. In June of 2012, our President will rework his plan for the future. It’s tempting to jump ahead, but we don’t want to miss any of Your Winter Stars

January 2012 begins with Jupiter the optimist moving forward. He’s ready to make political and legislative hay of seeds planted late in 2011. Saturn anchors Jupiter at the beginning of the month but soon Jupiter charges ahead. This should be good for jobs, construction and mortgage loans. As Mars appears to stop in the heavens and move backward late this month, politicians are frustrated but something compels them to help us move us forward. Caveat: The apparent retrograde or backward motion of Mars, the planet of business, could mean that things are delayed until July when Mars finally leaves this place for about 2 years. I suspect we’ll see movement this month with more this summer and fall. These are exciting times. The dark side of Mars is anger and confrontation…even war. Watch for aggression at every level: Whether it’s on the playing field of sports, work or the battlefield. Jupiter appears to stop. So all month he is sitting in the same place. This can be lucky for you. Caution for Jupiter transits: You’ll want to bet your winnings. Saturn faces Jupiter and says to save some. Saturn is stronger. If you bet it all your winnings are fleeting. Best luck comes when you invest and save. This is true love too. Invest in a solid relationship but if you’re not willing to move you might be waiting alone.

February begins with plenty of relationship drama. Not just Valentine’s Day, but the very first days of the month when Venus faces Mars. Retrograde Mars is stuck in the past. That may literally play out like a series of planetary actions and reactions. Women look at men and ask for action. Saturn faces Jupiter suggesting a push for real commitment. Retrograde Mars lacks the oomph to commit. This could add up to an abundance of folks taking a little space. It promises to bring more folks out to see what or who is the best fit for now and the future. The dark side of retrograde Mars is passive- aggressive behavior. The good thing about the Venus opposition: We see what’s up and decide with our time and ultimately our allegiance. Should make for some estranged bedfellows and a call for a clear platform or commitment in later April after Mars goes forward again. This is true for politics and international relationships too. The political arena is much more volatile with outside nations influencing actions. If your romance has too many outsiders stirring the pot you’ll easily see that they will be part of your future. The month is great for clarity. What you see is what you’ll live with. Would you want this for your best friend or child? If your suitor can’t decide, the push of Jupiter to Pluto first and later to Mars may well bid “adios Adonis”, I want someone with more substance than physical form. Yes, wisdom does win over ego…grins.

March: This month is all about love and money. On a simple or shall we say private level the Market moves on optimism and we have loads of that. It’s a gambling combination and it is fraught with high rollers with high hopes. It’s hard for Saturn to remind us to save some. We can’t hear him over our excitement for today. I expect passionate surge of public enthusiasm for a candidate too. President Osama’s health care legislation comes under the Supreme Court’s gavel until the end of June. This is the perfect balance of Saturn and Jupiter. Is it the law or is it belief? Is it right or do I simply wish it were? March and April are great for his potential opponents. But they need to bring their respective plans Saturn as a story for the future of the nation. Sound bites and irritation are entertaining, but a serious debate is a wise investment for voters. Money is in the air and it’s not about money lost but about potential. Plenty of it is moving to candidates’ coffers. Venus Joins Jupiter and they are indulgent planets. They trigger Pluto and eventually Mars. Mars is still rather reluctant to dive in, but something is about and there is something in the wind that might just catch the emotions of the people. There is also the war or anger side of Mars. I hope there is no new war in the air. But with the actions of Iran and revolutions in several Arab nations, the dogs of war are howling.

Lucky You! If you happen to have a personal planet in Vedic Aries, you feel the optimism of Jupiter all season. In March, Venus might just tip you toward romance, a new job and yes, even a fresh philosophy of life. Pull out your chart and see if you happen to have a planet near 6 degrees of Aries, Leo or Sagittarius in your Vedic chart. [that’s 1 Taurus in your Western chart.] You have great potential to transform your life. Choose your actions and reactions wisely. This is only the beginning. Anchor your enthusiasm with Saturn’s wisdom and this could be the best new beginning ever. We all have the opportunity to use this great combination. As Jupiter moves forward to catch Pluto and Mars the first half of 2012 this energy enlivens all of our lives. Saturn faces Jupiter and we do what we must with the knowledge we have. Like President Clinton: We give up something for better health and perhaps a longer life. If you happen to be directly under Jupiter’s optimism and face Saturn’s wisdom you have it just a little easier and can show us how to leave resentment behind and embrace your gifts. I mean that literally. The luckiest of all are folks who embrace the power of choice to live a full life each day. That takes the best of these planets and we all have access to them now.

The President has very stressful, life transforming transits in March and April with relief at the end of June. Ketu [karma] pulls off his Moon. The Moon is our emotions in western astrology and our perceptions in Vedic. The President’s moon is very likeable. But it doesn’t look as if he’s enjoying his success His moon line runs through Washington DCI anticipate problems with his health care bill, but that he will be happy (more than just relieved) when the court rules. I am saying that it will be a mixed bag and that the legislation will need to be changed in some form before it can more forward. I do not believe it will be ruled totally against the constitution. This experience will alter the way he perceives the world and politics and this nation. What the President decides to do in terms of running or not running again is up to him. The transits are truly wild cards. It is possible that We the People will see an incumbent not run for personal reasons. I honestly don’t know. I wish him well and hope that he had the best advisers in the world to help him navigate the nation not just run for office. We’ll see a man who appears to transform before our eyes this summer. But the winter and spring bring heavy burdens of responsibility and trust.

Politics aren’t everything this year…but they seem to be everywhere. Newt Gingrich is rising. I have no confirmed time of birth. But do have 11:45 pm. If that is accurate, we should see the former Speaker of the House continue to rise. He and President Obama have a very potent connection. The President’s Moon or his perceptions and Speaker Gingrich’s Mercury or business planet are in the same place in the heavens. At this time, both men of opposing parties can literally shed the karmic debt encountered in their success and work together. That’s a lofty hope, but it will literally free both and could bring the nation together. It triggers Romney’s chart too but not as powerfully.

I would love to watch them debate. Better still, just sit and explain their respective plans for the nation. Speaker Gingrich [if time is accurate] is in a very successful master cycle for political success. He has a tricky chart. He rose and fell and rose again over the decades. But he has a practical vision worth listening too. I don’t know if he’ll make it to the nomination. But I do expect a very lucrative few months for his campaign. Greed is his weakness: That, and his relationships. But with Ketu at the very front of his chart, he is difficult to frame in a simple picture. Ketu came of age by age 50 so when he says that he is a better husband now than before I believe him. I also know that it is very difficult to “see” a person born with that placement. That alone makes him interesting.

Since Ketu has come of age for him, and since Ketu is crossing his business and communication planet as well as President Obama’s Moon, I see them facing off. I hope they work together is the nation needs them, but in a 2-party system that isn’t likely. Instead the most we can hope for is a debate or discussion. Ketu helps us shed our karmas and is great at revealing the foibles of the ego. I do not believe it was an accident they are both on the national stage as We the People must decide which direction to take this fall. Scandal follows both men as we enter the spring. Romney may well reap the rewards.

Iran: I have Iran’s birth chart as 2-11 1979 at 2pm. This is when the Ayatollah Khomeini came to power. In light of Iran’s arrogant actions and the painfully reminiscent Embassy burning I pulled up this chart. It is a great chart for self destruction. Pluto on the point of physical body, in this case the physical nation, with this sort of arrogance and Iran’s defiance of the world’s agreements takes my breath away. Add to that their potential for a nuclear weapon [I’d bet on it with their actions and transits]. Plus the transit of Uranus: unexpected transit from home, in this case the mother land and I believe they are ripe to blow or implode.

Looking at their president’s chart and I see that Mars will appear to stop on his Jupiter in January and I fear that his hubris will take even more action then and in May and June 2012. This is not a passing mood but a passionate and aggressive action. I suspect and fear that they believe [Jupiter] that now is the time to rise up [Pluto] to take their rightful place on the world stage as an opponent to the Western World and started with the British Embassy. I fear that Iran wants to be the Islamic nation to gather the Arab nations together against a foe. It will backfire against them. But in the meantime their hubris is potentially destructive for many others. And, it will play a role in the election of our next president.

President Obama’s chart is hit by the same powerful transits. His Mars, planet of action and yes, of war trigger’s Iran’s chart and yes, Ahmadinejad’s [I disrespectfully refer to him as “nutjob”.] I do not envy the President the next few months. As I edit this, I heard that Iran has a US drone. Mars is sitting on Iran’s Saturn and pulling onto its Rahu. This is big and part of the first of 3 powerful swings over potentially perilous planets. A nation has a birth chart and the Sun in that chart is the leader. Neither “nutjob’s” chart nor the nation’s chart shows any sign of restraint or compliance. A great test of relationships world wide.

The Republican Players: Don’t count Perry out. The Mars transit I mentioned in Iran’s chart is a big player in Perry’s chart. I expect to see Perry rise and fall as Mars triggers him in Dec. 2011 April and June 2012. He’ll find the wisdom of his Saturn or be gone. He’s not leaving anytime soon. Mars to Saturn is frustrating for him and irritable. Negative attention or passive aggressive: He’ll succeed if he can get a clear structure, Saturn and work within it. One thing certain about Perry’s chart: He believes he is the right man for the job. His national position will rise in June, but I don’t know that he’ll be the nominee. The stress of Mars on his Saturn Moon may be a struggle between Perry the man and Perry the candidate his handlers want him to be. This will either bring voters to him or push them away. I don’t think we will know until this summer.

Romney’s chart is also triggered but he will take a more measured response. Romney’s own Sun faces the President’s Mars. Both will face off as the leader and potential leader of the US. Romney takes the challenges and balances them with fortunate transits. He’s in for the long run. Gingrich will have the most carefully thought and researched response for Iran. If the time I have for him is right. It will have a huge impact upon his image. Saturn is strong. We get to see the men and their plans for the nation. This is exciting on every level.

Thank goodness it’s October! This has been a year for all the elements: Floods, tornadoes and fire. The only element left is Earth. I smile as I type this because the Earth is here and we are weary but grateful for the opportunity to rebuild. This autumn many struggle to rebuild everything. Legislators struggle to be true to their respective parties. We the People struggle to find jobs and opportunity. It is an end and a beginning and we are beginning now. In the language of astrology: Jupiter and Pluto hold their respective positions to open a big doorway of opportunity. In November, Saturn faces Jupiter to help put it into form. Also in November, Mars adds his energy and loud voice to the party for 6 months. The formation is called a kite. Simply put a plan gains momentum with the people. It slowly takes form and ultimately can help lift the economy up by the summer of 2012. This is a beginning.

I read that the real end of the Mayan calendar is not December 2012 but October 2011. I believe that November 2011 is the beginning of a 3 year cycle of growth. It takes a while to get rolling. Look for signs that seeds of growth are planted. Why do I think that? The Oracle of Omaha Warren Buffet is the quintessential Plutocrat. He invested $6 Billion into Bank of America. A monster bank weighed down by foreclosures…as many are. Is Buffet a generous man, or a wise investor who seized an opportunity created by his wealth? Maybe a little of both: I’m not an investor but I would speculate that banks will soon find a way or motivation to sell much of that debt. Call me an optimist or say that I’m putting too much stalk in a strong Saturn. This is the beginning of economic recovery through real estate.

October: There is big publicity as people pull together. The month begins with Jupiter trine Pluto. In the language of astrology that is a whole lot of attention or PR. Mars stressed both planets in September and the vitriol was so offensive that both the Democrats and the Republicans should be embarrassed by their outspoken and desperate members. I expect October to herald a shift. I expect prospective and elected officials to dig deep to find real plans for jobs and economic growth. The best plan wins, but only if it gets attention. Candidates are gathering cash. Legislators are compelled to compromise or lose in 2012. By the 15^th, candidates who have tangible results get attention from the people. Caution: at the end of the month the magic of advertising or fractured facts might leave us all scratching out heads and wondering which path to take. Jupiter is moving backward and enters a lunar mansion that is all about the excitement that comes from the dawn of a new day. He’ll linger here until March 2012. Folks who faced destruction remind us all how glorious a new day can be. It’s time for us to set cynicism aside and embrace it too.

This isn’t an election year: why talk so much about politicians? Legislators make the legislation that can cripple the economy or stimulate it. The President, or presidential hopefuls, will hopefully lead the nation through difficult times. Jupiter is the planet of law and politicians. Jupiter is in a lunar mansion that speaks of a lonely truth teller: He faces mortality and so is made immortal to guide others. Think of this as you look for the lonely truth tellers who rise out of frustration to lead the way. After all, if Buffet sees opportunity maybe we should look too. Caution: watch for fractured facts.

November: Things get rolling. Mars moves into the constellation Leo and the mansion Magha. He will remain in Leo for 6 months. He charges forward in Nov. and Dec. Mars is all about action and capitalism. Mars faces Neptune during the first 2 weeks. Neptune is illusion so take the time to investigate your source, before you bet your future on him. The real story is beneath the noise where there is something building. Saturn, the planet of structures or cornerstones and facts, moves into Libra where he is productive. I looked back in time to note past stays in the constellation Libra [Vedic]. I’ll share those dates with you. Do your own search… Here is the past: Oct. 1923 – Oct. 1926; Nov. 52 – Nov. 55; Oct. 82 – June 85. And what about the present: Nov. 2011 – Aug. 2012. Think of this Saturn as the tail on the “kite.” We need a solid Saturn to steady the climb up and away.

December: Money moves as we enter December. The planets are scattered so it’s difficult to see where it’s going. At least it’s moving. Jupiter is virtually stopped in the heavens. If you have a planet in early Aries [Vedic] or early Taurus [Western] you already feel something brewing. It seems that property is moving and 2012 is looking better. Mars the action planet helps us pull together to rebuild. Stories fill the holiday news casts of folks who helped each other pull together and pull through are everywhere. We even helped our neighbors’ pets and livestock and wildlife. It was a tough year for millions and horrific or 1000s. But we made it. These stories abound if we’ll just look. They help us drown out the vitriolic anger of self motivated politicians of both parties and help service minded folks seize the opportunity to run for office. The gift of Saturn in Libra and the publicity planets is a lot about good people who want to do what’s best of the country rise to the surface. This carries over into January and 2012. The shift began in October and it’s moving now.

Where the Money Flows: I am not a wealthy person and I am not even an investor. But the power of Pluto with Uranus the planet of change and a shift of Saturn into Libra, where the fertile star Sirius is found, tells me to look at what Plutocrats like Buffet are doing with their money and follow it. I expect a lot of property to move from the banks liabilities to others’ assets. I expect foreign investors to buy up property here. The Market remains volatile. That’s an opportunity for experienced investors and a potential calamity for others. Simply put: it’s a gamble. You could be really lucky or really broke if you don’t know what you’re doing. Expect government budget cuts. If you happen to have a planet in early Aries you might just see big returns and maybe some wild-catter’s luck.

How the Love Grows: The desire to work together is strong in October. Marriage counseling and personal growth work helps us cooperate. Still, romance is cautious. Do you have the courage to be your self? Do you know who you are? There is no better time to get your footing and dare to be you. BTW that’s where the love grows this season and always. However, Venus starts this season with practical Saturn. She crosses Pluto the powerful in early December. She begins the New Year ready to listen as Saturn and Uranus cook up change. In this case it is the liberation that comes when you are ready to be visible. Yes indeed, 2012 is an exciting year. This season is a great time to enjoy love while you clean out your emotional closet. Love grows as we grow.

Who will be the Man with the best plan? The plan, that is, for economic recovery and jobs. Watch for tangibles and a strong hand on the string of the kite. That hand belongs to the next President. It may sound simple, but the transits suggest a Saturn type leader. Romney and Perry have Saturn strong…but so does Obama. Which man will inspire businesses to expand and hire? That’s the Jupiter transits.

Romney vs Perry: I have birth times for both candidates now. They both have really strong transits through the election in Nov. 2012. They could end up on the same ticket. Romney has stronger aspects in late Dec. 2011 and Jan. 2012. He could surge ahead. Romney already has a plan and supporters. The Mars transits give him a stronger voice and image. I also expect plenty of campaign money from the Jupiter transits. But don’t underestimate Perry. There are plenty of voters who want his conviction. He was born with the Moon on his Saturn. He’s a pragmatist and a builder. You may not like his approach, his swagger or his budget cuts. But Saturn’s voice is heard this season and next year. Romney may be better at national politics, but Perry will have voters who are hungry for Saturn’s simplicity ready to vote for him. Perry has Venus strong so he can be charming. But his Saturn Moon combination makes it difficult for him to ask for support. I believe he’ll get the hang of it.

President Obama continues to have very difficult aspects. He’s probably tired and may feel abandoned or even betrayed…as well as frustrated. Mars is not the President’s friend. It’s important that he appear strong and willing to do what is best for the nation. Mars’ best side is service. Mars’ dark side is passive aggressive loathing. He needs to offer Saturn’s strength and wisdom from fresh advisers. He needs to lead the team and still be a good sport. He needs to rise above partisan politics and lead the country. That sounds easy but at the level of President there are so many voices talking he’ll have to ask for help beyond his current advisers and from the Republican legislators. As the year ends expect many changes in staff. He has an economic rabbit to pull out of his hat. Whether it gets passed or not will depend upon his strength not vitriolic voices. His popularity should climb next summer.

Politicians and people of integrity rise to the surface and others fall hard. Watch for the facts and let gossip blow through. Still, scandal is in the air and scandalous behavior stings like smog. Most of us have a particularly pleasant summer. Planets are scattered about the heavens, a little stress here…a little bliss there…grins. The simple things are more meaningful. We appreciate home more since we’ve seen homes flooded, burned and shattered. The first half of 2011 was extraordinary in the eyes of astrologers and astronomers alike. There was a large cluster or gathering of planets. They moved rather like a crowd does: Faster planets pulled away from one group and merged with another until finally they are free. In fact, Most of us are breaking free from something in our selves: Call it enlightenment, clarity of liberation from guilt. This summer, we can dally where possible and explore what intrigues us. But be aware of your actions, past and present. The past comes to the surface when we least expect it.

Saturn goes forward Jupiter turns back: This combination is generally good for business and growth. Saturn is the pragmatist and the guilder. He is the foundation as well as frustration. Saturn appeared to stop and go forward at 16 degrees Virgo. Jupiter will stop at 16 degrees Aries in September. If you happen to have a planet in your Vedic chart at 16 degrees you are primed this summer for something big. It might be a great vacation or an interesting idea or just a calm sense that your life is built of strong stuff. Dust off that idea that got bogged down in the drama of this year. You are on time to get it going. A little stress stimulates creativity for all of us, but particularly folks with a personal [those you can see with you own eyes] planet in any constellation and between 13 and 19 degrees.

July: Happy Birthday USA! There is a Solar Eclipse visible in Antarctica on the 1^st. There is a birthday party on the 4^th and a month filled with productive days. Saturn pulls forward. Like a barge finally free, Saturn leaves the cosmic marathon men Uranus and Pluto behind. This is actually good for a nice stroll into summer and in to something that intrigues you. The eclipse path marks a place in the heavens for scandal. Notables and commoners alike fall from grace and are as shocking as a cuss word during Sunday Service. This is a central theme this summer. Ketu heralds consequences hidden on the Excess Express. This has been in the news since May. What marks this quarter is the final shift of several personal planets over Ketu and into the grasp of destiny. Operate from integrity or take your karmic lumps quickly and often publicly. A wise western astrologer told me years ago that this point “takes away” what crosses it. It’s supposedly good for enlightenment but that translates into stress that directs us to awakening. I hope we all “rise” to the occasion. I suspect that financial scandals won’t be the only ones…but they are big.

On July 20^th, the planet Mars moves over Ketu or the dragon’s tail. Once Mars is fully over that point, he moves through lunar mansions known for hunting down those so consumed by desire their actions were an affront to the gods and to civilized man. This sounds like high drama, and most of us will watch the news and wonder: “How did he presume he’d get away with it?” We need look no further than dictators and their bank accounts, but there are little dictators in daily life too.

July and August are strong for scandal and stronger still for the revolutions begun this year. Ghadafi and Assan remain in the news as do other tenuous dictators. Yes, the world will send money to the revolutionaries they support. How will it go? Let’s hope intention is clear and the money goes down in history as well spent for good causes. For now, it’s difficult to see how it will end, but it will heighten this July and August. This is the beginning of new leadership in many of these nations and more.

August: Capital Hill went home for the August break, but the aspects of surprise and frustration follow them. On the 10^th Mars triggers Uranus a predictable combination for unexpected events. By the 25^th Mars stresses Saturn and We the People are easily irritated and generally unimpressed. Politicians hoping for business as usual may find themselves in the middle of some tired constituents. Irritable transits are good for keeping the “us versus them” going. Expect plenty of padding to the reduced budget this fall. Soothe your own irritable mood. That’s the motto for the 2^nd half of the month. Everyone wants a break from the political heat and while Mars and Saturn are stressed, it reminds us that the simple things are really wonderful. If you are in a mood to complain, keep it to a few good friends and even then, expect a mini revolution if you insist on going over the old tired whine another time.

Terror plots and tyrannical dictators remain in the news. We are fascinated by the courage of citizen revolutionaries. August is a volatile month. The President and congress thought it would have time off but could well be called back for an urgent session. Yes, the budget is an issue but this could be a more international matter.

Mercury is retrograde from August 2^nd until the 26^th: Double check the fact and set aside some mental down time. It would be great to take a long leisurely vacation now. It’s hot and even in cooler climates, this is a month to slow down and let nature ripen the crops. Everyone wants a little personal space. The heat is a good reason to get out early or stay up late. But many of us want to be alone and the retrograde Mercury period heightens the feeling. Folks who are introspective love these periods. Those who are double booked or chronically scheduled hate them. No matter whom schedules for you, keep humor at hand because plans will change and inevitable someone will go to the wrong place certain that they are right! Caution: Don’t lie. Mercury is the communication planet: With the transits this month it is not the time to try to slip by on a little lie.

September: Jupiter appears to stop and move backward. If Jupiter triggers your chart, you’ll feel opportunity, insight and a general sense of well being…call it your own state of Grace. Big news about the value of meditation is out there. We are really busy but it finds its way to us. Big news about the effects of stress on the psyche and body is out. Watch for news about the impact of electronics on brainwaves and exciting new testing tools that read energy and immune system. Pluto appears to stop in the heavens on the 16^th. Watch Palestine. On the 29^th Venus crosses Saturn and complicated relationships come to a productive compromise. I don’t know about the Middle East as a whole, but as individuals and nations the end of this month is good for compromise. It won’t last long. The elections are ready and scandal continues this fall. India and Pakistan are in the news. Mars triggers their birth charts. Born August 15^th 1947 to separate Pakistan from India these two nations are united with very volatile birth charts. Mars triggers them through September and October. We hope for the best of Mars: decisive action in the service of the world and their people. We hope for wisdom.

Love and Money are fickle, but don’t over react until you get the facts. As the planets seem to kick up the dust of past indiscretions and greedy scams it’s hard to trust. Relationships are tested and by the end of this season some relationships and peace talks will fail but many more will be stronger and more committed than ever. Online dating takes a backseat to in person meeting. Yes, divine intervention is alive and well in social settings. Do you believe you could meet someone wonderful?
